SashaForJanne, oh no it’s AzureForJanne!

We love metal bands, hardcore, or indie, and we love new bands. New doesn’t mean new, and if you can’t find them in your favorite magazine, or web, then we’ll do it.

So here we go, after been sleeping for few months, we have interview from Azure For Janne. These guys love Sasha Grey (have u guys seen her works? i mean, in HBO’s Entourage :D ). They are SanJay, Meng, Jayson and Bryan. I’m pretty sure some of them play in other bands as well.

A4J has been playing in the hardcore/metal scene for a year or two now, and climbing the ladder, step by step now.( Ooo baby). A4J (that’s how they say it, acronyms, like OBS, SCTS,LMB,RTW) joined Gegey Tour 2011 Festival and toured Malaysia with other local bands.

So, eat this slice!

What type of band are you?

We’re a post-hardcore/avant-garde band, well, mainly that’s our core genre but we try to infuse almost every sort of music genre out there to our songs cause were greedy like that. Haha.

Tell us the brief history of your band.

The band started off around in 2007 but we just officially established ourselves as a band sometime in late 2009. That’s cause we had the idea back in 2007, but we only put it into full use in 2009, and of course in terms of the band line up, we had a few changes and all, but we’re romantically inclined now with the current members which is myself (SanJay), Meng, Jayson and Bryan. We love food.

What’s your influences?

Our influences would be Youtube, Google, Facebook, girls, and boys sometimes, and of course the lovely Ms. Sasha Grey. Not to forget Bieber,
Rebecca Black and all the child auto-tuned singers out there who makes us feel like a pedophile sometimes, but they inspire and influence us to make better music.

What are the band’s dreams and goals?

Well of course like every other people out there we wanna have mansions, a garage filled with cars where we can die choosing which car to drive today, money to throw around in our music videos and beautiful ladies for us to chase after in it.

Lol. Just kidding.

What we really like is to help put Malaysia’s hardcore scene out there in the map of the world, tell those international peeps that we don’t live on trees anymore, we never did actually, and we own tv’s, cars, guitars and we speak English too. It will be awesome if we get to tour and hang out with bands we listen to everyday in our playlist, and just have pure fun. Besides that, we just want to share our music to the world and receive feedback from people all around the world. That will make us happy, and that’s our dream and goal.

Who writes the songs, what are they about?

We write the songs. It’s a band effort. Usually one of us will come up with a basic song structure, then we’ll start working on it together in the
studio or at home. We don’t stop until we finish the song together and until each and everyone of us are happy with it. Our songs are usually about empowerment, moving forward, life, sometimes the truth about a lot of things we don’t usually realize about, and of course, love. Yeah the usual’s.

Where do you guys record you songs?

We record our songs with Najmi whose also from a local hardcore band called Incarnation, at Subhuman Productions located at Bukit Antarabangsa, KL. You can check out Subhuman Productions on Facebook here: www.facebook.com/subhumanproduction

How do you promote your band and shows?

Since we’re living in the age of technology, the best way to promote our shows and upcoming gigs are through social networking sites such as Facebook, Twitter, Myspace and Tumblr. It gets the word around and how can you possibly go wrong with such awesome websites? :)

Describe your show, visual and musically

Okay imagine, Transformers the movie. All 3 of it. Yes, including the upcoming one. The feeling you’ll get if you watch us live is something along the lines of the orgasm you get during Transformers. Some might enjoy it, some might not, but it’s all good :)

What do you think about downloading music online?

To be honest, we support online streaming and downloads. It’s the way to grow in this modern era. People are online most of the time than they are outside by their CD player. Well, to think of it, the only time we are by our CD player are when we’re in our car and even with that we plug in an iPod or a USB drive to listen to songs to. Downloading online is cheaper and sometimes its even free and its easily accessible by everyone in the world. Your music will be heard throughout the world and if anyone wants to have your songs in their playlist, all they need to do is go to a link and purchase the song and voila, your part of their daily life, no matter where they are in the world. Yes CD’s have sentimental values but hey, wake up, as much as CD’s are important for you to look at from time to time, the songs in the CD is what you listen to daily, so think of it this way, you have everything you want from a CD you wanna purchase, but the only difference is, its in a soft copy. Technology is awesome :)

What’s your claim to fame?

That would be when we’re in front of thousands of people, and all of them are singing along with us throughout our set. When people are sharing our music to other people and putting in a good word about our band. That’d would be our claim to fame.

Tell us a story about a day in your life.

Every Wednesday night is our jamming day and during jamming, we laugh our asses off while we’re practicing cause we’re a bunch of
crazy-annoying-but-funny dudes and also when we go for supper after jamming, we continue laughing. We gangsta’ like that yeah.

What inspires you to do what you do?

The scene inspires us. The people who turn up at every single show we play at or have in the scene almost every weekend, they inspire us. The
die-hard hardcore followers who don’t fail to support us during our set and off set, for each and every single band who perform in a gig, they inspire us. The lovely, nice and kind friends we make and have in the scene, they inspire. We inspire each other. We’re one big happy screaming family :)

What local band do you inspire the most?

Every local hardworking bands to be exact because they’re all as good as any international bands out there, its just that we’re not exposed as much to the outside world and don’t have that much support from the masses, yet. To name a few bands we adore are Love Me Butch, Seven Collar T-Shirt, Massacre Conspiracy, Bizharo, The Padangs, Bob The Sausage, An Honest Mistake, Tres Empre and Daarchlea, but the list goes on :)

What’s new in the recording of your music?

Yes, yes yes. Haha. The new songs we’ve written and about to record are much heavier, more melodic and much more intense. We’re recording single by single, so roughly in between every 3-6 months, you’ll get a new song from us via our Facebook or Twitter. We’re also doing dubstep/electro remixes of our songs as well. So stay tuned.

What are the biggest obstacles for bands?

So far, we only had problems in terms of our line up. We had a few past members who we’re not committed, who had discipline problems or some members who we loved but they had to leave due to personal commitments. Besides that, we don’t have any major obstacles on our way, thus far. I’m pretty sure if there’s any coming at us, we won’t back down without a fight ;)

What’s the best and worst thing about playing gig?

The best thing is of course, playing the gig itself and having fun with the crowd. The worst thing is when we have to wait for hours and hours
because shows get delayed and our slot gets pushed, but even with that, when we’re up on stage and when we start performing, the crowd feeds us with their crazy energy and knowing that they stayed back even though its late at night or so, that puts a smile on our faces and we go all out.
